SUMMER PROGRAMS

 

-> For (k-12) MATH, most students fall in to TWO PERFORMANCE/ACHIEVEMENT GROUPS; A & B, although some would argue that the math student spectrum is divided in to THREE; two outliers and a middle one. In reality there is only TWO. Group A Students are doing well or surging ahead. Group B Students are struggling or are in danger of being left behind, eventhough they are just carried along. Between them is an “achievement gap.”

-> A RAND Corporation study ** states ” Summer provides an opportunity  to help bridge  the achievement gap” 

-> Both Groups will be affected, one far more than the other, by the “MATH SUMMER SLIDE“, also known as {“MATH SUMMER LOSS“, or   “MATH LEARNING LOSS“} which will erode both group’s Math Skills, but critically for group B.

-> MATH SUMMER LOSS is the real loss of knowledge and is most significant in math and math skills during the summer months, and is cumulative over the course of a student’s career and further widens the achievement gap.

NWEA assessments are used by over 9,500 schools and districts in 145 countries. They are known for the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests, which are used to measure achievement and growth in subjects like math, reading, and language use. Our SUMMER PRORAMS offer students in both groups A & B opportunities for advancement in  (and for effectively utilizing) the summer months.

For GROUP B, we offer the POWER MATH SUMMER PROGRAMS:

For students who need a review of courses, material and topics that they have completed but are shaky on. They have to master these materials and concepts with a solid review before they move on and build on top of them by trying to learn, new, higher-level, math concepts in the new year. 

 

For GROUP A, we offer the CUSTOMIZED SUMMER PROGRAMS:

For students who want to get ahead and preview upcoming courses, material, and concepts, particularly challenging courses, like the AP courses, in order to get ahead and gain an advantage with a fast start in the new year.  They want to master such challenging material and concepts before they even see it in their fall math class, in order to maintain and extend the momentum of their wave of success and confidence in to the entirety of the new year.
